Corruption is defined as:
“The abuse of entrusted power for private gain.”
Corruption thrives in darkness, but Florida sunshine can be the best disinfectant.
Corruption takes many forms.
There can be both illegal and legal corruption. Corruption can involve anyone including politicians, government officials, business people, and members of the public.
Corruption can be systemic. As an example, the lack of regulation of campaign financing has created a corrupted system in Florida that is arguably a legal form of bribery.
To combat legal corruption, like the campaign finance system, citizens need to press for change in the halls of the US Congress, the Florida legislature, and local city and county governments.
To fight illegal corruption, like bribery, election crimes and security, and civil rights violations.
Citizens can report criminal corruption to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
